Summary of Recent Achievements in Collaboration with Sarmap s.a.
Since 2001, Sarmap s.a. and EEF-Switzerland have jointly been involved in the development of three integrated/multidisciplinary projects financed by proceeds from the European Space Agency (ESA) and occasional support from the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC). The immediate purpose of these three projects was to develop new integrated spaceborne applications to support the objectives of environmental conservation and sustainable development promoted by international environmental treaties. They include the TESEO Study on desertification, the development of an Internet Rice Information Service (IRIS) and the Global Monitoring for Food Security Project (GMFS), which is currently developed in support of the European Commission's Food Security Policy. These three projects are briefly summarized below:
